Purple Dog on Green Sofa

Posted on by vincent kamp

Inspiration to create something can leap out at you when you are least expecting it.  In fact, this kind of inspiration is often the most fun.  At least it is for me.

I'm a Hugh MacLeod fan.  In fact, I was compelled to buy one of his pictures and even blogged about it.  I love his daily cartoons. They often make me question the way I do business and inspire me to take action, but when he recently posted about why many artist's blogs fail.  I was inspired in a different way.

Hugh writes: 'Your typical artist’s blog usually consists of little more than a photograph of the latest art piece, with a brief description like, “I painted this yesterday. I like how the purple dog clashes with the green sofa.” Or whatever.'

For some reason I just couldn't resist painting exactly that.  I'm not sure if my blog is an 'Artist's Blog' but if so, then perhaps it is doomed to fail.  I guess it depends on your definition of success.

So here goes:

I painted this picture this morning, I like the way the purple dog is drinking beers and eating popcorn on a green sofa.  I like the colours green and purple....and popcorn and beer.
